Winter is a great time of year for a cleanse. This is not just a cleanse, but one that also helps to rejuvenate the body and mind.

Seasonal cleansing rids our bodies of all sorts of toxins, pollutants, harsh chemicals, pesticides, and any other Ama (toxic residue) that our physical body has accumulated over the holiday period. Cleanses will help to purify and tone the internal organs, cells, and tissues of the body, flushing out impurities that aren’t serving us.

Reiki Training Level 1

Reiki Master Marleen Wood will offer classes in Level 1 of Usui Reiki training.

Reiki is a Japanese hands-on healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki means Universal Life Energy, the energy that sustains all life. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

First Degree Reiki Training (two days January 11 & 12, 2020 must attend both days)
We will capture the essence of Reiki. You will hear the history of Reiki and learn about applications of Reiki, harnessing and protecting your energy. You will learn how to do a complete Reiki treatment using hand positions and intuition. You will learn the five precepts of Reiki and practice specific Japanese meditation techniques. You will experience attunements at a local energy vortex, so that you may begin practicing Reiki on yourself and others, with understanding and clarity. You leave class with a certificate, fully trained to do Reiki on yourself, loved ones and friends, plants and animals.

We recommend a 30-day practice period between learning each level of Reiki training, so that the student may gain experience and confidence before progressing to the next level.

Veggies for your Dosha

shares our favorite Thanksgiving Recipes for your Dosha….

These simple roasted veggie recipes make perfect Thanksgiving side dishes for each dosha. Roasting vegetables brings out the sweetness in veggies and is great for the holiday season. The Vata and Pitta recipes feature sweet veggies, while the kapha recipes features bitter and astringent roasted veggies.

Vata – Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes are a perfect Thanksgiving dish for Vata. Wash 4 or 5 medium sweet potatoes, prick the skins with a fork a couple times, and roast them at 400 degrees for 30-45 minutes, depending on the size. They should be nice and soft. Mash them up with two tablespoons of ghee or for a yummy vegan variation, two tablespoons of coconut, walnut or hazelnut oil. Add the juice of half a small orange, a half a teaspoon each of ginger and cinnamon powder, and a pinch each of salt, powdered clove, nutmeg, and allspice.

Pitta – Roasted Fennel
Fennel is great for pitta types. Start with two whole bunches. Chop off the tops and cut the stalks into bite-sized pieces. Toss with around two tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt, spread on a cookie sheet or in a roasting pan, and roast at 350 for 30 minutes. Place in a bowl, squeeze the juice of a half lemon over it, and give it a good toss. Place the fennel on a platter and dot small pieces of goat cheese over it.

Kapha – Roasted Potatoes & Brussels Sprouts
Kapha types should roast white potatoes and brussel sprouts. Start with around two pounds each of potatoes and sprouts. Wash the veggies well, and cut off the stem end of the brussel sprouts and remove any tough outer leaves. Mince three or four cloves of garlic, and place all of it in a roasting pan. Toss with one tablespoon of sunflower oil, a teaspoon of dried rosemary add a small pinch of salt and a few generous grinds of black pepper. Roast at 400 for 30-40 minutes.

Second Degree Reiki Training (one day Nov. 17, must have completed level 1)
Marleen teaches three ancient, powerful, healing symbols. Highly effective, these symbols support healing and expansion in all areas of life, both for yourself and others. These sacred symbols are the key to why Reiki is a path that can lead to enlightenment and inner peace.

You receive a Reiki II Attunement which takes you a quantum leap in your effectiveness as an Advanced Reiki Practitioner. You leave class with your Reiki Second Degree Certificate and a deeper experience of the extraordinary healing and transformative powers of Reiki. . . The purpose of this program to enable participants to acquire the theory and hands-on skill needed to practice Reiki Level II to reduce anxiety, relieve pain, and promote healing in self and others. These skills enable participants to provide emotional support and the flexibility of offering Reiki energy without the need to touch the recipient. Reiki II focuses and intensifies Reiki I energy. You learn how to apply the Empowerment symbol to enhance what you learned in Reiki I. Reiki II empowers you to do Reiki on someone when they are “out of arm’s reach”. The Absent/Distant treatment is immensely useful for those times when you have family or friends at a distance. Even though you’re not physically present, you can offer them Reiki.
